Year Seven Pupils Welcomed into the School House System
In a special assembly held on Monday, Year Seven pupils were officially welcomed into the School House system. The Performing Arts Centre was buzzing with anticipation as the pupils eagerly awaited being assigned to their Houses.
Senior House Leader, Mr Webster, took the stage to introduce the School’s four unique Houses, each represented by a distinctive mascot and led by their House Leaders and enthusiastic House Captains from the Sixth Form.
Mr Webster’s introduction revealed the diverse range of House activities and competitions. Alongside well-loved events like House Dance and House Rowing, this year sees the introduction of exciting new House competitions, including the House AI mascot design challenge. These activities are designed to provide pupils with opportunities to showcase their talents, collaborate and build lasting friendships.
The House competition runs throughout the academic year and involves a huge range of different events. Upcoming House competitions include Poetry, Rugby, General Knowledge, Cipher Challenge, Pumpkin Carving, Hockey, Dance, and Model-making.
The four Houses: Elgar, Ottley, Wylde and Whiteladies battle it out to become House Champions with all pupils and staff allocated to the Houses.
The House system is more than just a tradition; it is an integral part of the School community. It fosters skills such as teamwork, leadership, and personal growth while instilling a strong sense of belonging which will enrich the journey of Year Seven pupils and help them participate in all aspects of RGS life.
