Tug of War – Staff Struggle for Supremacy
Monday lunchtime saw the inaugural staff round of House Tug of War, which was also a fundraiser for Sports Relief. With one \’pull\’ against each House, it would prove to be a battle of tactics and brawn. Elgar went into the event with Mr Friend feeling confident on the back of wins in both Rowing and Tug of War earlier in the year, and Ottley had strength in numbers, with staff looking splendid in their Ottley shirts. Elgar and Ottley proved too powerful for Wylde and Whiteladies, with Wylde struggling against all three other Houses.
The final \’pull\’ came down to Elgar and Ottley. With both teams opting for a combination of strength and weight at the front and back, the small crowd waited in anticipation. Mr McGarry-Cross dropped down low for Ottley, and this proved decisive, offering Mr Henderson, Mrs Witcomb, Mr Jones and Mr Morgan to pull Ottley home to victory.
Fun was had by all, and we look forward to making it bigger and better next year. Thank you to all who supported and donated.
Mr Dan Morgan
Senior Head Leader and Head of Ottley House
