Tennis Stars Ace County Championships
Congratulations to the RGS Worcester pupils who represented Herefordshire & Worcestershire in County Tennis this season. The culmination of the Tennis season was marked by the County Championships held at Manor Park in Malvern, with five RGS pupils playing for their County.
Congratulations go to Ayrton Little, Theo Houston, Emma McKay, Daisy Williams, and Aayush Nilak, who all played on the Finals Day at the Herefordshire & Worcestershire County Championships.
Upper Sixth student Emma McKay, won through to the Under 18 Girls Singles semi-final. Emma also won the Under 18 Girls Doubles and reached the Under 18 Mixed Doubles quarter-final. As well as competing in the Under 18s, Emma also played in the Ladies Singles, reaching the quarter-finals and the Ladies Doubles reaching the semi-finals. Emma not only participated in the Finals Day, she was also part of the Under 18 Girls County Cup Team who were voted the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Team of the Year, with an impressive nine consecutive wins.
Year Ten pupil Daisy Williams made her mark by becoming the Under 16 Girls Doubles champion. She also reached the semi-finals in the Under 16 Girls Singles and secured the runner-up position in the Under 18 Girls Doubles. Daisy’s unwavering determination was evident as she emerged victorious in the Under 18 Girls Singles Consolation final.
The Under 18 Girls Doubles final saw RGS pupils Daisy and Emma along with their partners play against each other with Emma and her partner emerging triumphant with a score of 6-1, 6-3.
Year Ten pupil Theo Houston demonstrated his Tennis skills by securing the runner-up position in the Under 16 Boys Doubles and reaching the quarter-finals in the Under 16 Boys Singles. Theo’s prowess extended to the Under 18 category, where he advanced to the quarter-finals in Boys Singles and Doubles, as well as Mixed Doubles.
Year Eight pupil Ayrton Little displayed exceptional talent by reaching the final in the Under 14 Boys Singles and the final of the Under 14 Boys Doubles. Additionally, he impressed with a quarter-final finish in the Under 16 Boys Doubles.
Year Eight pupil Aayush Nilak showcased his promising talent by advancing to the quarter-finals of the Boys Under 14 Singles and the semi-finals of the Under 14 Doubles.
