Sport – move from summer to autumn
We have now finished our successful block of summer sports and we have been fortunate with the weather. It has been fantastic to give pupils the opportunity to perform in the sports that they so disappointingly missed out on last term. We have managed to play some competitive Cricket fixtures, with the 1st XI, Under 15 and Under 14 age groups all beating King’s School, Worcester last weekend.
Winter sports will continue with Games and after-school training sessions on the same day for each age group. The girls will play both Hockey and Netball whilst the boys will be playing Football and boys’ Hockey, rather than Rugby. With the latest update from the RFU stating that no competitive Rugby will take place until January at the earliest, we believe that moving from the traditional sporting terms is the best way forward at this present time. It is worth noting that we will be looking to play some Rugby during co-curricular time so that we are fully prepared for when Rugby does resume.
My thanks to pupils, staff and parents for working with us to provide Sport successfully and safely for our pupils in the current, challenging situation.
Mr Gareth Roots, Director of Sport
