Skiing in Sestriere
On Saturday 18 February RGS Worcester pupils from Years Eight, Nine, and Ten, along with 30 staff members, embarked on a successful Ski trip to Sestriere in Italy. The pupils were divided into Ski groups based on their abilities, from beginners to advanced Skiers with the fully RGS-branded fluorescent helmet covers ensuring that all 170 pupils were safe and easily identifiable. The week-long trip gave pupils a chance to enjoy the company of their classmates and teachers through a range of fun activities, such as Skiing, Sledging, Basketball and a disco.
The trip was a significant logistical exercise with four separate groups leaving different airports at various times, all converging on the same Ski resort.
Early starts meant pupils were up at 6.30am for breakfast before hitting the slopes for the morning. They then refuelled at lunch before returning for an afternoon of skiing. The trip also gave pupils valuable life skills such as independence, responsibility, and teamwork, as they managed their own equipment and schedules. The evenings provided opportunities for pupils to socialise and have fun through quiz nights, talent shows, and a disco.
Overall, the Ski trip was a great success, allowing pupils to develop their Skiing skills and enjoy the slopes.
A special thanks must go to Mr Leeds who masterminded the trip, ably assisted by Mrs Nicholls. Thank you also to all of the staff who attended the trip and looked after the pupils. RGS looks forward to arranging similar trips in the future, to continue providing these valuable experiences.
