RGS Worcester Crowned Under 19 County Champions at Netball Competition
It has been a busy Michaelmas Term for the RGS Netball players who have recently enjoyed taking part in Tournaments across the County, playing in a number of highly competitive Netball matches.
Each year, England Netball runs the National School Competitions which sees Schools from around England competing for the national title of Under 14, Under 16 and Under 19 National Schools Champions. Each County invites local schools to compete in the competition, usually in November, with the runners-up and winners being invited to the Regional round at the end of January. The winners and runners-up of the Regional rounds are then invited to the National Schools Finals, usually held in February.
Last week our Under 19 Netball players were crowned County Champions of the National Schools Competition. Head of Netball, Miss Ellie Gibbons, commented: “The Under 19 Netball team played some very impressive and consistent Netball across the afternoon at Bromsgrove School, and I look forward to continue seeing the development and improvement of RGS Netball players”. Beating Bromsgrove School along the way, the team will now progress to the Regional Finals in January, one of the biggest and most hotly contested Netball competitions in England.
This is a fantastic achievement for the Under 19 Team. The entire RGS community is incredibly proud of the performance and hard work of the team. We wish them great success in the Regional Finals.
