Year Ten Swimmer Set to Compete in Serbia
We are thrilled to announce that Year Ten pupil Lexi Agoston will be representing England at the prestigious International School Sport Federation (ISF) Under 15 Gymnasiade in Serbia this Easter. The event, which takes place over ten days, brings together young athletes from over 55 countries who will compete in 22 different sports, including Swimming.
Lexi, who recently represented RGS at the English Schools Swimming Association Finals, will be competing in the 50m, 100m, and 200m Breaststroke, as well as the 50m Butterfly. This is a remarkable achievement, and we are incredibly proud to have her represent both RGS and England.
The competition will take place in Serbia, where Lexi will have the opportunity to train and acclimatise during the first two days. Her swim events will begin on day four, after which she will participate in a range of cultural activities alongside athletes from other nations. The Gymnasiade not only provides an arena for competition but also offers a unique platform for cultural exchange, allowing young athletes to bond, share experiences and form friendships.
The athletes will travel as a team to Serbia, staying for the duration of the event, immersing themselves in the local culture after their races. This balance of competitive sport and cultural exploration is an experience Lexi is sure to remember for years to come!
We wish Lexi the very best of luck in her upcoming races and look forward to hearing all about her experience.
