Year Eight Enjoy Hands-On Learning at the Botanical Gardens
Pupils in Year Eight enjoyed a visit to the Birmingham Botanical Gardens on Thursday and Friday this week, where they investigated plant adaptations linked to various climate zones as part of their Geography Ecosystems unit of work. A particular highlight was the ‘hot house’ where pupils learnt about Tropical Rainforest plants. The Botanical Gardens have a new learning centre which we enjoyed utilising.
Time was also given for pupils to revisit their map skills knowledge from Year Seven with orienteering across the site. Alongside this there were also cross curricular mathematical challenges.
Luckily the torrential rain that was forecast held off and pupils enjoyed spending time together out of the classroom.
