The RGS Worcester Family of Schools Shortlisted for Prestigious National Education Award
We are delighted to announce that The RGS Worcester Family of Schools has been shortlisted as a Finalist for the Tes School Awards 2024, a prestigious national education award.
The Tes Schools Awards recognise the very best teachers and schools from state and independent schools, across early years settings, primary and secondary education in the UK. The four RGS Schools jointly are Finalists in the ‘Best Use of Technology’ category, demonstrating the Schools national standing in education.
The Tes Schools Awards, dubbed the ‘Oscars of education’, are extremely competitive and for the RGS Schools to be shortlisted as Finalists in such an important category for education is great praise for the Schools. The shortlist was compiled by a panel of expert judges, including school leaders. They identified that RGS is near the forefront of technology usage in education and has responded successfully and quickly to the arrival of AI and use of digital technology to improve teaching and learning.
Mr John Pitt, Executive Head of The RGS Worcester Family of Schools said: “We are delighted that The RGS Worcester Family of Schools has been shortlisted for a Tes Schools Award in support of the incredible work that is being done here to drive innovation in education. Our School motto is ‘Cherish the past, look to the future’ and that is what we have been doing – recognising that we need to prepare our pupils well for their bright futures.
The Award for ‘Best Use of Technology’ is very current since AI and digital technology are changing the education landscape and schools need to be engaged and learning fast. Being short listed demonstrates that RGS is at the forefront with other leading schools internationally and is reward to the team here for all their hard work and commitment. We have also been pleased to be able to share what we have learned with state secondary and primary schools, other independent schools, even across the globe and to a partner school in Ghana.
Congratulations to our pupils who work with our staff to develop the best and safest approach to technology and to our staff for being willing to learn and adopt new approaches for the benefit of our pupils.”
Mr John Jones, Director of Innovation at RGS Worcester said: “The digital culture across all four of the RGS Worcester Schools has helped to cultivate our strategic approach to adopting Artificial Intelligence. Our holistic AI literacy programmes have provided the foundations from which we have adopted AI meaningfully and ethically across the curriculum. This shortlisting is recognition for our entire school community who all help to ensure that RGS remains at the forefront of meaningful innovation whilst preparing our learners for an increasingly digital world”
We are delighted to be shortlisted for the Tes Schools Award 2024 and look forward to the Award ceremony and finding out if the RGS Schools will lift the trophy.
The national Award ceremony will be held in London in June. Regardless of the outcome, being shortlisted as a Finalist is a significant achievement in itself and reflects the dedication and hard work of teachers, support staff and pupils in creating an exceptional educational experience at the RGS Schools.
