‘The Big Push 3’ Charity Challenge
Lower Sixth student Libby Parker will be embarking on ‘The Big Push 3’ on Saturday 28 September to raise awareness and funds for the charity Long Covid Kids.
Following the success of last year’s The Big Push 2, during which Libby raised over £8,000 for the charity, The Big Push 3 will see Libby being pushed the length of a marathon around Worcester, hoping to raise even more funds for children and their families who are trying to navigate the complex challenges of Long Covid.
Libby said: “I tested positive for Covid on 1 August 2021. I was asymptomatic with Covid; however, four weeks later, I started to struggle. Since then, I have struggled with fatigue, nausea, racing heart, brain fog, and various other random symptoms. I have been unable to attend school full time; most weeks, three hours has been my limit, and some weeks, I haven’t been able to go in. I am a competitive swimmer, swimming with Worcester Swimming Club and have managed to do some training this year.”
The staff at RGS Worcester have supported Libby since that time, working closely with her parents to ensure Libby could complete her GCSEs very successfully last summer. Libby is now in the Sixth Form and has enjoyed started her A Levels.
The Big Push 3 will start at Perdiswell Leisure Centre and will finish at RGS Worcester, where we look forward to celebrating with Libby and her family and friends after achieving the marathon distance and hopefully raising even more funds for this worthy cause.
Libby encourages everyone to get involved by joining her on the walk, donating to her GoFundMe page ( Donations via www.gofundme.com/f/the-big-push-3), or sharing her social media posts. We wish Libby and her family all the very best for next Saturday!
