Superformance Races Ahead at Mallory Park
“On Tuesday this week, a team of twelve Year Seven novice racers visited Mallory Park racing track for an exciting day of practice for Greenpower car racing. We left School at 6.30am and travelled an anticipation-filled hour and a half to the track in Leicester. The team and car, Superformance, passed the scrutineering test with just a few tips and changes, which made our ‘Superformance’ even better!
As the practice run started smoothly, our supportive teachers advised us on how to improve our newly found skills, such as driving nearer to the inside of the track and turning the speed dial all the way up, becoming as fast as we could. Everyone was eager to set off in the race car at 30mph, but the handmade car was so close to the floor that sometimes you thought you were going a lot faster!
To ensure everyone had a chance to enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, the whole team had to be ready to make a speedy pit stop every four to five laps. When it came to be time to depart, we were sad to leave but happy to keep the cheerful memory.”
