Success in the UKBC Biology Challenge
Year Ten Biology pupils recently participated in the UKBC Biology Challenge, achieving impressive results.
The Biology competition consists of two twenty-five-minute multiple-choice papers. Questions are set on the school curriculum, but the competition also rewards those pupils whose knowledge of the subject has been increased by reading books and magazines, watching natural history programmes, taking notice of the news media for items of biological interest, and general awareness of our natural flora and fauna.
45,400 students took part this year across the country, and only the top 5% are awarded Gold, 10% Silver and 15% Bronze Awards.
45 pupils from RGS participated, with 10 earning Gold, 8 achieving Silver, 12 receiving Bronze Awards, 7 attaining ‘Highly Commended’, and 3 receiving ‘Commended’ recognition.
