Sport is for all at RGS
Since the Government advised all schools to close to pupils on-site, the RGS Physical Education and Sports department has been working hard remotely with the RGS community to engage in physical activity. We have pleasure in sharing with you a summary of our remote learning in Physical Education and Sport via the video and also an outline below.
- Core Physical Education lessons– Our lessons have continued with pupils following the athletics scheme of work remotely. Pupils have further enhanced replication and performance across a variety of athletic disciplines including sprint starts, javelin, discus, long jump and shot put. In addition, pupils have evaluated their performance, participated in specific workouts and athletics challenges set by the department under the guidance of Mr Brindley, Head of Athletics.
2. Games/after-school clubs – Pupils have accessed more technical sport-specific training advice from their coaches through CoachNow. Extended reading tasks, weekly challenges, workouts and recent news links have been included on these pages for pupils to engage in during Games sessions. For those not signed up yet please see links to specific CoachNow team training spaces:

3. Daily Sports Feed – the Sports Department has posted a video daily on the RGSW Sports Twitter page (@rgswsport) that both parents and pupils have accessed. The content has been varied and has followed themes in a sport with an emphasis on fun and engagement during downtime:
‘Motivation Monday’
‘Threshold Tuesday’
‘Workout Wednesday’
’Thinking Thursday’
‘Fun Friday’
Thank you to everyone for your involvement with us. We wish you all a safe Half term break and look forward to seeing you in the second half of the Trinity term for more physical activity and engagement.
