RGS Worcester’s Role in Shaping the Future of Education
Since January, Mr John Jones, Assistant Head and Director of Innovation at The RGS Worcester Family of Schools, has been part of an exciting research team on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. This week, the team launched a groundbreaking paper at the House of Lords, London. The research involved contributions from 23 groups of schools representing 413 institutions and impacting over 250,000 students.
At RGS Worcester, meaningful innovation remains at the heart of our educational approach. This project allowed us to bring forward our unique perspective on the careful and ethical integration of AI into the classroom. AI literacy is central to our efforts to enhance learning, alleviate teacher workloads, address ethical concerns, and provide equitable access to educational opportunities for all.
Reflecting on the project, Mr Jones said, “Working alongside respected experts like Professor Rose Luckin, Dr Fiona Aubrey-Smith, and the EDUCATE Ventures Research team has been a privilege. The launch at the House of Lords, hosted by Lord Jim Knight, was a significant moment for the whole team. I hope this marks a new chapter in how the educational sector approaches AI, with great potential to shape the future of learning for the better.”
A key outcome of the project is the development of an AI Guidance Framework, designed to help schools navigate the adoption of AI responsibly. This framework provides practical steps and considerations for integrating AI into education in a way that promotes informed, critical engagement with the technology.
