RGS Rowers Impress at National Schools Regatta
During the first weekend of the Half term break, the RGS Rowing teams showcased their dedication and skill at the National Schools Regatta. With ten rowers competing, the event was filled with intense races and impressive performances.
Starting off the proceedings was the Championship Coxless Quad of Zac Jew, Daniel Foster, Matthew Ferris, and Sam Taylor. After two gruelling days of racing, the boys fought hard and secured a spot in the D final, demonstrating their tenacity and teamwork.
Sunday saw the J16 Double of Will Simpson and Freddie Fielding take to the water. Their efforts paid off as they successfully navigated the time trial to earn a place in the C final, where they achieved a commendable fifth-place finish.
In the Women’s Junior 16 Double category, Martha Colclough and Lottie Richardson delivered an outstanding performance. Breaking through after three events of striving to reach a final, they not only made it to the C final but triumphed in it. Their race was a thrilling contest, neck and neck with Trentham Rowing Club down the course, ultimately securing victory.
Liv Hodgson and Lucy Whiteley represented RGS Worcester in the Championship Girls Double Sculls. Their impressive fourth place finish in the time trial earned them a spot in the prestigious A final. Racing against older competitors, Olivia and Lucy’s fifth place finish in the final was a remarkable achievement and a testament to their talent and perseverance.
The teams delivered impressive performances across various categories: the Championship Boys’ Quad reached the D final, the Boys’ J16 Double competed in the C final, the J16 Girls’ Double won the C final, and the Championship Girls’ Double secured fifth place in the A final.
Congratulations to all the rowers for their hard work and achievements at the National Schools Regatta!
