RGS Rowers Impress at Indoor Rowing Event
RGS rowers delivered an impressive performance at an Indoor Rowing event last Saturday. RGS had 69 entries spanning Year Seven to the Upper Sixth. Competing against 110 rowers, the team demonstrated exceptional skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship across all age categories.
Medal Success for Years Seven and Eight
All 42 Years Seven and Eight pupils came away with medals after excelling in mixed Year group and mixed gender Relay teams. Their dedication and teamwork set the tone for a fantastic day of competition.
Outstanding Results Across Year Groups
The older Year groups also achieved success, with many podium finishes:
- Year Nine Girls (4 Minute Race):
- 1st: Elsa Somer
- 2nd: Xanthe Carrington-Abraham
- Year Nine Girls’ Relay:
- 1st: Annabelle Cutler Tucker, Elsa Somer, Xanthe Carrington-Abraham, Isabella Gabriel
- Year Nine Boys (4 Minute Race):
- 3rd: Jack Vickers
- Year Nine Boys’ Relay:
- 4th: James Clarke, Jack Doy, Simon Herbert, Elijah Hall
- Year Ten Girls’ Relay:
- 2nd: Emilia Buck, Grace Challinor, Elsa Somer, Annabelle Cutler Tucker
- 3rd: Amelie Baynham, Erin Docherty, Emily Pipe, Chloe McLelland
- Year Ten Boys’ Relay:
- 4th: Alby Enoch, Billy Fielding, Peter Jackson, Elliot Simpson (just 3 metres off bronze)
- Sixth Form Girls (2K Race):
- 1st: Lucy Whiteley
- 2nd: Olivia Hodgson
- Sixth Form Boys (500m Race):
- 1st: Daniel Foster
- Sixth Form Girls’ Relay:
- 1st: Martha Colclough, Olivia Hodgson, Charlotte Lamb, Lucy Whiteley
- 2nd: Lottie Richardson, Lillie Sawyer, Lucy Griffiths, Isabella Coventry
Team Spirit and Support
The rowers demonstrated incredible teamwork throughout the event at King’s School. Simon Herbert, Annabelle Cutler Tucker, Elsa Somer, Reuben Cooper, and Billy Fielding stepped in at late notice to cover for illness, ensuring all Relay teams could compete.
Sixth Form rowers also demonstrated their leadership by arriving early to support the younger Year groups, offering guidance and encouragement on the race floor.
The competition highlighted the skill and determination of the RGS rowers and their unwavering team spirit and camaraderie.
