Regional Success and National Recognition for the RGS Swimming Team
On Tuesday this week, the RGS Swimming team participated in the ESSA Relay Regional Qualifying event. Thirty-four of our talented swimmers competed, delivering excellent performances throughout the afternoon. The team was guided by our RGS Swimming Academy coaching staff, Mr Jon Fletcher and Mr Mark Hill, who provided key advice, split times, and technical evaluations throughout the event.
We now await the completion of Regional Qualifying events across the country to determine if any of our teams have qualified for the National Finals at the Commonwealth Games pool in Sandwell on Saturday 16 November.
Two of our RGS Swimming Academy athletes, Lexi and Joe Agoston, were also in action, and they received fantastic news over the summer holiday that they have been selected for the England Swimming Pathway. Their invitation to the National Age Group Development Programme is an incredible achievement and a testament to the hard work they have both invested in their swimming over the years. Their selection was based on their performances at the National Championships, and they will now train with the most talented swimmers in the country. Throughout the year, they will attend in-person training camps and have access to online education to further develop their knowledge and improve their performance.
We are certain that the Paris Olympic Games has inspired all of our swimmers, and Lexi and Joe will fully embrace this outstanding opportunity. We wish all our swimmers the very best for the season ahead.
