Perrins Hall alive with the sound of music
We enjoyed the first Teatime Concert of this academic year this week, with talented Year Eleven pupils filling Perrins Hall with the sound of wonderful music once again.
The music performed was an eclectic mix. The concert was opened by Charlie Raven with a compelling performance of Stars from Les Misérables, looking back to the last Senior School musical production we staged in 2020. Catherine Broadbent followed with J.S. Bach’s Partita 2 in D Minor for violin, a beautiful and challenging unaccompanied piece.

Next, William Hulbert played the demanding ii. Poco Adagio quasi Andante and iii. Rondo. Allegro Moderato from Beethoven’s Horn Sonata in F Major. We then continued with Georgia Lee giving a tender performance on the violin of Lionel Bart’s Where is Love? from Oliver! Next, was something new for a Tea Time Concert – a drum kit performance by George Laney of Paul Simon’s 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover. This piece had some particularly tricky drum beats, which George handled wonderfully. Joshua Fisher gave an equally stirring performance of John Williams’ Main Theme from Star Wars, arranged for the trumpet, mastering the wide range and projecting well. Cailen Jones treated us by singing the well-known If I Only Had a Heart from The Wizard of Oz, giving a dramatic performance as the tin man, a role he will soon be performing in the Starbuck Theatre Company production of the show.
