Olivia and Lucy Triumph at the Coupe de la Jeunesse Beach Sprints

We are delighted to celebrate the fantastic achievements of Lucy Whiteley and Olivia Hodgson, who have secured victory in the Women’s Double Sculls (CJW2x) at the prestigious Coupe de la Jeunesse Beach Sprints.

Olivia and Lucy began by defeating Norway in the first round, followed by a decisive quarter-final win against Spain 2. In the semi-final, they faced a tense race against Czechoslovakia, finishing just one second ahead to secure their place in the final.

Competing against the Spanish crew on their home waters in the final, Olivia and Lucy demonstrated remarkable resilience and composure. The Spanish team had achieved the fastest time in the previous day’s trials, but Olivia and Lucy rose to the challenge, powering across the finish line with a winning time of 2:38.72, narrowly outpacing Spain’s 2:40.59.
