Mental Health Week at RGS
This week, RGS Worcester participated in World Mental Health Week. Pupils and staff showed their support by wearing yellow, with several school events highlighting the importance of positive mental health.
Lower School pupils took part in a ‘Design a Buddy Bench’ competition, working with the Design Technology department to create a bench for the Lower School playground. This project allowed Lower School to work together to create something physical which will have a positive outcome for pupils.
Everyone across the school had the chance to wear a yellow ribbon, showing collective support for mental health awareness. Display boards were set up to highlight the mental health provision available at RGS, reminding students and staff that support is always available close by.
RGS was also featured in a promotion on Radio Wyvern, spreading the message about the week’s events to a wider audience. Yellow cupcakes were on sale, adding a fun touch to the week and encouraging further involvement.
Assistant Head and Designated Safeguarding Lead, Mrs Sofia Nicholls, held assemblies throughout the week, focusing on the importance of mental health and the resources available to pupils. Her talks helped emphasise the importance of speaking up, looking out for one another and seeking support.
