Libby’s ‘Big Push’ for Long Covid Kids
Congratulations to Lower Sixth student Libby Parker, who completed a marathon distance trail for ‘The Big Push 3’ in her wheelchair, supported by her friends and family.
The group successfully navigated the marathon route around Worcester, raising both awareness and funds to support children with Long Covid. Following the successes of The Big Push and The Big Push 2, they have collectively raised over £10,000 for this important charity.
After completing seven miles, Libby was joined by Paralympic swimmers and gold medallists Becky and Matt Redfern, adding to the day’s celebration.
Libby said: “I really enjoyed being pushed around Worcester on Saturday. It is so important to me that we continue to do the ‘Big Push’ as a reminder to everyone that Long Covid is still a thing and Covid is still affecting people’s lives. The amount we continue to fundraise each year is astonishing, and the generosity of people is amazing, I am so grateful! For me, Long Covid still affects my life a lot. I attend school for about four hours a week and do a lot of resting in between and this is the case for many children who are affected by Long Covid, to varying degrees. A big ‘thank you’ to everyone who came along to ‘The Big Push 3’ including Paralympians Becky and Matt Redfern, the Mobiquip Marketing team Brandon and Kristen (who also very kindly donated a wheelchair for me to use for this year’s marathon), and my mum, brother and sister who walked the full distance!”
Congratulations to Libby and her family for this extraordinary accomplishment—it is a milestone of which she should be incredibly proud.
