Golf Team Swings Back into Action

The RGS Golf team have competed in two fixtures this Half term against St Edward’s School, Oxford and Dean Close School.

The team travelled to the Open Qualifying venue of Frilford Heath Golf Club on 7 May with a team of six competing in a four ball better ball format. With tight fairways and punishing rough, it was a challenge for all the golfers. RGS were victorious against St Edward’s by two and half matches to a half with some impressive stroke play throughout the rounds.

The team travelled to Cotswold Hills, Cheltenham, to play Dean Close School this week. The home team had an advantage in that they play the course for most of the year, but all three matches were competitive. On this occasion, RGS could only win one of the three matches and lost the overall game two to one.

These matches were good preparation for the ISGA competition in September, and we wish all our RGS golfers the best as they practise over the summer.
