‘Future Ready’: Preparing RGS Students for Life Beyond School
At RGS Worcester, we believe that a truly outstanding Sixth Form education extends far beyond the classroom. Academic success is, of course, a priority, but we are equally committed to equipping our students with the skills, confidence, and mindset needed to thrive in an ever-evolving world beyond School. This is the philosophy behind our ‘Future Ready’ Programme, a carefully structured initiative designed to develop personal growth alongside academic achievement.
From the outset, our Sixth Form students are encouraged to take full advantage of the vast array of opportunities available to them. Whether through leadership roles, collaborative projects, Co-curricular experiences, or independent initiatives, they develop key attributes such as resilience, adaptability, and self-motivation — qualities that are essential for success in both Higher Education and professional life.
The ‘Future Ready’ Programme supports students in building leadership, intellectual curiosity, creativity, and teamwork. By engaging in Co-curricular activities, subject enrichment, and personal development challenges, students track the essential life skills that they are cultivating and which will serve them well in their future endeavours.
In the Upper Sixth, our focus shifts towards ensuring that students are fully prepared for the transition to independent life — whether that is at University, in Apprenticeships, or entering the world of work. Through a structured series of Transition Talks, we address practical and essential topics to ensure students feel confident and capable as they embark on their next steps. These sessions include:
– Personal Finance: understanding budgeting, investing, tax and pensions so students can make informed financial decisions.
– Studying at University: strategies for independent learning, making the most of lectures, and balancing academic and social life.
– Alumni Insights: engaging in conversations with recent RGS alumni who share their experiences and advice.
– Nutrition and Wellbeing: learning how to maintain a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle away from home.
– Laundry and Life Admin: practical sessions to equip students with the day-to-day skills they will need to live independently.
By the time our students leave the Sixth Form, they are not only academically well-prepared but also personally confident, independent, and ready to navigate the opportunities and challenges ahead.
The ‘Future Ready’ Programme is an integral part of what makes Sixth Form at RGS a transformative experience — one that empowers students to take charge of their futures with ambition and assurance.
