From Politics, Business and Economics to New York and Washington, D.C
The Politics, Business and Economics trip to Washington, D.C., and New York City was an unforgettable experience, filled with visits to some of the most iconic landmarks in the United States.
Starting in New York, pupils immersed themselves in the bustling energy of Time Square, where the dazzling lights and towering billboards left everyone in awe. Pupils then visited Grand Central Terminal, marvelling at its stunning architecture and vibrant atmosphere. The next stop was the United Nations Headquarters, where everyone admired the impressive exterior and reflected on its global significance. A peaceful stroll through Central Park provided a welcome respite from the city’s hustle, offering beautiful landscapes and a glimpse of New York’s natural charm.
One of the highlights of our trip was attending a baseball game between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox. The excitement in the stadium was palpable, and it was a fantastic way to experience American sports culture. Pupils also visited the 9/11 Memorial Museum, a poignant and moving tribute to the lives lost and the resilience of the city.
A ride on the Staten Island Ferry offered spectacular views of the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline, while our visit to the Top of the Rock observation deck provided breathtaking panoramic views of New York City.
From New York, we travelled to Philadelphia for a tour of Independence Hall, where the foundations of American democracy were laid. This historic visit was both educational and inspiring for all. During the visit pupils were given a citation signed by the City of Philadelphia from Mr Hawkins who kindly presented this to us in person.
In Washington, D.C., pupils began with a tour at the Washington Monument, followed by visits to the Jefferson Memorial and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, each site offering deep insights into American history and values. A guided tour of the U.S. Capitol and the Library of Congress was a fitting conclusion to the trip, highlighting the rich legislative history and cultural heritage of the United States.
Overall, this trip was an incredible journey through the heart of American history and culture, leaving us with lasting memories and a deeper appreciation for these iconic cities.
