Excitement builds for ‘Zorro the Musical’ Production
It is that time of year again when excitement builds for the Senior School Musical which, this year, is ‘Zorro the Musical’. The opening night is just five weeks away and the cast, crew and talented musicians are working hard to ready themselves for this singing, dancing, acting, and sword-fighting extravaganza, being performed in the School’s stunning Performing Arts Centre.
The Musical is set in the sizzling heat of 1800’s California and a pueblo is under attack from its autocratic leader. When the danger is at its greatest, a masked crusader appears from nowhere and saves lives. Who is he? Will he be their champion? ‘Zorro the Musical’ is a fresh new tale of love, hope and courage.
George Jasper, who plays the lead role of ‘Zorro’, said: “I am very excited for Zorro and the audience should be too. It’s an honour to be working with another great cast and crew in what will be an amazing production. I have loved learning new skills such as sword fighting as well as developing my singing, dancing and acting! I hope the audiences enjoy it!”.
Olivia Neale, who plays Luisa, said: “This being my final senior school production at RGS, I am delighted to be working with this wonderful cast on such a challenging production. It is always difficult to attain the prestigious heights of past RGS musical productions, yet ‘Zorro’ succeeds in living up to these expectations. We have had to tackle new, interesting elements to our performance, yet this hasn’t detracted from the excitement of the cast”.
Will Hulbert commented, “I am really excited to play the role of Ramón in this brilliant production as the character is completely different to roles I have played before”.
Catherine Broadbent said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be playing the part of Inez, this is my second senior school production at RGS. I am now studying drama at A Level and have the privilege of being a drama and music scholar so I continue to be offered amazing opportunities to learn and develop my performance skills. I really hope the audience enjoys the show!”.
Director of Drama and Artistic Director, Mrs Jilly Witcomb, added: “There is nothing like directing a production that will bring the summer heat of Spain and California to a cold Winter’s Evening in Worcester– ‘Zorro’ is probably the most exciting musical that RGS will have seen to date. It has been a privilege working with such a talented and enthusiastic cast and crew”.
‘Zorro: The Musical’ will be performed in the RGS Performing Art Centre for five nights, from Monday 28 November until Friday 2 December. Tickets are on sale now priced at £11.00 Adult, £8.00 for Concessions. To purchase your ticket, please do so online at https://www.trybooking.co.uk/BWJJ
