Evie is a Star Baker for Charity
Year Eight Pupil Evie Stennett has recently raised over £1,000 for Cancer Research UK by putting her passion for baking into practice.
Evie lost her much-loved dad, Bazil Stennett, in January this year after a tragically short battle with cancer. Evie, who is a massive fan of The Great British Bake Off, has been baking since her dad’s funeral where she put out a notice for mourners announcing her plan to sell cakes to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
However, Evie did not stop after the funeral and has continued baking to raise money for Cancer Research, helping to raise an impressive total of more than £1,000. Evie’s mum, Susannah, said that Evie’s baking exploits would have delighted her dad, who encouraged her interest in baking and helped start her journey by buying her a large stand mixer, like those used on her favourite programme.
In honour of Evie’s achievements, Staff from Cancer Research UK presented her with a medal and certificate to celebrate her fund-raising achievement – and then sat down to share one of Evie’s delicious celebratory cakes!
