Classics Trip to Greece Provides a Journey Through History and Culture
At the beginning of July, 48 enthusiastic pupils, accompanied by five teachers, embarked on the biennial Classics residential trip to Greece. The adventure began with a flight into Athens, followed by an afternoon visit to Sounion, where the group explored the Temple of Poseidon and enjoyed lunch at a local taverna. After settling into their hotel, pupils spent the next day immersing themselves in Athens’ rich history, from the iconic Parthenon to a hands-on experience at the Theatre of Dionysus, where they re-enacted Greek plays.
The journey continued with a whirlwind coach tour across mainland Greece, stopping at Tolo, Mycenae, Delphi, Olympia, Corinth, Epidauros, and other historic sites. Highlights included a foot race in the ancient Olympic stadium and a performance in the ancient theatre at Epidauros. This memorable trip was a fantastic way to conclude the academic year, and the Classics Department is eagerly anticipating their next Mediterranean adventure with the pupils!
