Cadets Experience Aviation Excellence at RAF Cosford
On Sunday 9 June, CCF RAF Cadets from Year Ten and Lower Sixth attended one of the country’s most prestigious air shows at RAF Cosford. The Section was honoured to be invited to the Cosford Air Show, which featured a spectacular mix of flying and static displays of military aircraft from both the UK and overseas.
Despite challenging, unseasonal, weather conditions the Cadets witnessed breathtaking aerobatics by the famous Red Arrows, F-35B Lightning, and Typhoon combat jets. They also saw the historic Spitfire and the renowned Chinook tandem-rotor helicopter, among other impressive aircraft.
In addition to the aerial displays, the Cadets explored various educational exhibits. These included hands-on sessions on wartime medicine in the twentieth century, the role of cybersecurity in national defence, and the use of robotics through physics and engineering.
Cadet Sergeant Samuel Taylor reflected upon the trip: “It was a great experience to be up close to so many aircraft and to witness their capabilities as well as the skill of the pilots.”
Pilot Officer Andrew Webster, who leads the RAF Section at RGS, added: “Cadets and staff had a wonderful time, and we are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such an exhilarating annual event.”
