Bullseye! Emelia is UK Under 18 Master Champion
Congratulations to Year Eleven pupil and expert Archer, Emelia Hughes who became the UK Under 18 Master Champion in Archery last weekend.
The UK Masters competition is the biggest and most prestigious competition of the outdoor Archery season and the one that Emelia had been working for all year. However, Emelia thought her chances were over after dislocating her knee a few days earlier but, with her leg in a brace and on a pair of crutches, she decided still to give the competition her best shot. Emelia performed extremely well, resulting in her becoming the UK Under 18 Masters Champion at only 15 years of age. Emelia was delighted to receive her award from Paralympic Gold medallist Archer, Phoebe Paterson Pine.

This latest accomplishment follows Emelia being awarded Silver in the National Championships, Fourth place in the week-long Youth Festival and becoming the Central England Junior Champion in August. Emelia has also been granted a place in the GB Academy – an exclusive programme to develop promising archers into internationally competitive athletes. Emelia hopes to represent England in the coming months and GB in Europe in 2022.
