A Spectacular Autumn Concert
Wednesday evening saw Perrins Hall host this year’s annual Autumn Concert. Performed twice, at 5.30pm and 7.30pm in front of 400 parents, grandparents and friends, the Concert began with the orchestra’s pairing of Faure’s gentle ‘Sicilienne’, opening with a gentle harp solo, following by a rousing medley from ‘My Fair Lady’. The Wind Band performed ‘Beauty and the Beast’ and a lively fanfare called ‘Rhythmicity’ before the Intermediate Strings played the Love Theme from ‘The Godfather’ and the Elvis classic ‘Can’t Help Fallin’ In Love’.
The second half of the Concert was devoted to choral music, with Junior Choir beginning with a reflective yet playful Autumnal rendition of ‘White Winter Hymnal’ and the motivational ‘Waving Through a Window’ from the musical ‘Dear Evan Hansen’. Chamber Choir serenaded with The Kings Singers’ famous arrangement of Billy Joel’s ‘Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)’ before starting the party with the infectious American Spiritual ‘My Soul’s Been Anchored In The Lord’. The concert closed with Senior Choir who first sang with fire and fury in Haydn’s ‘Insane et Vanae Curae’ before closing the concert with Earth Wind and Fire’s ‘September’, complete with a house band of horns and rhythm section.
Each Concert was thoroughly enjoyed by our audiences who commented about the energy, enthusiasm and obvious enjoyment of the performers as well as the wide range of music and genre. Congratulations to all of the pupils and staff who performed so well in a major concert after just a few weeks of the school year.
