A Fond Farewell to our Upper Sixth
We bid a fond farewell to our Upper Sixth students this week as they embark on Study Leave today before their imminent Public Examinations. Their final days in the Sixth Form were marked by the Leavers’ Photographs on Wednesday as well as Final Assembly in Perrins Hall, Leavers’ Breakfast and Grange Day today, all of which have become a tradition at the end of Sixth Form at RGS. When their Public Examinations are over they can also look forward to their Graduation event, Leavers’ Book and Hoodies and Leavers’ Ball.
During the Final Assembly, Headmaster Mr John Pitt paid tribute to the students’ accomplishments, acknowledging significant milestones during their time at RGS, some spanning an impressive 16 years. Alongside words of encouragement for the upcoming examinations, there was a lively game of Giant Jenga played by the four School Captains to demonstrate overcoming pressure. The Headmaster revealed some of the stories from their time in the Upper Sixth which surprised them. The Assembly concluded with a rousing rendition of ‘Jerusalem’, accompanied by talented trio Will Hulbert and Luke Jones on the French horn, and Josh Fisher on the trumpet, all in harmony with Director of Music, Mr Jonathan Soman on the organ.
Following the Assembly, the atmosphere shifted to one of nostalgia and reflection as the students gathered for breakfast in Main Hall. Amidst animated chatter and shared reminiscences, they savoured their final moments together.
Due to the slightly wet weather, the students went bowling in Perdiswell before heading to RGS The Grange, for ‘Grange Day’ where they enjoyed a range of fun inflatables, games, sports activities and a hog roast.
As we say ‘goodbye’ to our Upper Sixth cohort, at least until their Graduation ceremony, we wish them the very best for their forthcoming examinations. We look forward to celebrating their achievements knowing that they will always remain an integral part of the RGS family.
