A Fond Farewell
In the RGS Times this week, we bid a fond farewell to staff leaving RGS Worcester at the end of this term. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for all their hard work and commitment and wish them the very best for the future.
Mrs Sophie Borrillo-McLellen, Development & Alumni Relations Manager
Since joining RGS in April 2022, Sophie has made an immense contribution, promoting the importance and value of alumni relations across the RGS community. She has been instrumental in resurrecting Old Elizabethan (OE) as the identity of all RGS former pupils and has extended the ways the School supports and engages its alumni. Sophie has brought a fresh focus to younger alumni, working closely with Audrey Williams to grow the involvement of former pupils in the Careers Programme. Alumni social media engagement has widened under Sophie’s leadership, with her annual magazines, Connected and Candida Rectaque, firmly established as eagerly anticipated publications.
Sophie is passionate about the power of Bursary Awards to transform young lives. Her alumni relations work has been a key component in enabling the Foundation Office to grow fundraising to record levels. Her appearance as a pear at the Giving Day will not be forgotten. A natural communicator and team player, RGS’s loss will be Australia’s gain when she relocates there with her family in January 2025 to embark on a great adventure. Sophie will be greatly missed by colleagues across the four RGS Schools as well as by the alumni community. We wish her every success ‘Down Under’.
Kai Cross, Science Laboratory Technician
Kai Cross joined RGS Worcester in September 2023 as a Science Laboratory Technician, following graduation from the University of Worcester. During their time with us, Kai made a valuable contribution, primarily supporting the Physics Department, adding a new dimension to the Faculty. At the end of the Michaelmas term, they will be leaving to pursue a new role as a Senior Medical Laboratory Assistant with the NHS in Worcester. We are grateful for Kai’s commitment and wish them every success in their future career.
