RGS Celebrates the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen
The RGS School community gathered in the Quad on Tuesday, to join in a fun-filled, all-school ‘Jubilee Picnic’, to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen.
The CCF Cadets began the proceedings by raising the School flag and, whilst pupils enjoyed their picnic lunches on the grass, they were royally entertained by RGS Brass Band, adding to the jubilant mood of the event.
Headmaster, John Pitt gave a short address, explaining that he had written to Her Majesty, congratulating her for her 70 years of service on behalf of the RGS Community.
Whilst staff celebrated in their red, white and blue attire, all had the chance to join the fun and have their photograph taken wearing royal themed dress-up and props, next to a life-size cut-out of HRH.
After lunch, pupils enjoyed croquet on the lawn, before discussing plans for what their ‘time capsule’ would include during afternoon Form time.
It was a thoroughly joyful occasion and a wonderful way to mark a unique event in History and a lovely reason to have a party during the School day.
