Open Morning – Our Family, Your Family
The banner outside RGS Worcester says the School is ‘Open for Admissions – Come and Join the Family’ and has done for many months. We have been extremely busy in Admissions to ensure that prospective pupils and their parents have the opportunity to visit in these unprecedented times and there is more interest than ever before.
We saw a surge in pupils wanting to join RGS Worcester following the success of Remote Learning last term, and we have continued to have significant numbers of pupils visit with their parents since the start of term. By Half term we anticipate that we will have seen over 100 families and they will have experienced bespoke Tours of the School with a member of staff and a chance to talk to the Headmaster and Senior staff.
Fully Booked for Open Morning
Open Morning last Saturday was very different to normal since we were not able to have the pupils on-site. The pupils are always superb ambassadors for RGS, so teachers and former pupils took up the mantle and were the Tour guides this time. We also had to restrict numbers to 50 families over an extended period of 5 hours and we were fully booked. The families seem to have really enjoyed their visit and appreciated the chance to talk to teachers and see departmental displays. They reported back that the staff were clearly very passionate about their subjects and the children enjoyed seeing all the opportunities at RGS. One visiting parent commented: “We wanted to write to express our thanks to everyone involved in putting together the Open Morning on Saturday. We were impressed by everything we saw and everyone we met. It was very useful to be able to meet teaching staff as we toured the different departments, and having them showcase the different subject areas and how technology is used to enhance the students’ learning was very effective in helping us to gain an understanding of RGS. We also enjoyed watching the Headmaster’s online welcome and hearing from the students in the video.”
Going Virtual
Unable to run the three Headmaster’s Presentations we would normally organise at Open Morning because of the ‘Rule of 6’, we instead went virtual as we posted films on our website featuring the Headmaster and pupils explaining what an RGS education is all about. We have also included a film by a parent and a general film with the many opportunities included. The Remote Learning experience is explained in a short video and there are Frequently Asked Questions and a Virtual Tour of the RGS Worcester site. The Virtual Open Morning is well worth a look – just follow the links from the front page of the website at www.rgsw.org.uk – RGS Worcester.
The excitement in Year Six at the RGS Worcester Prep Schools
We are holding our Transition Evening for Year Six parents who have children at RGS Springfield and RGS The Grange on Monday evening. Transition is all about supporting pupils when they move from Prep or Primary School to Senior School and we will share with parents some of the experiences of the pupils as they settle in at RGS Worcester. We hope that the RGSW Year Six pupils are really excited about next year and we aim to make their Transition as smooth as possible.
Come and visit RGS
There are further opportunities to visit on a normal School day, or our next Open Morning on Saturday 14 November. This will be a general Open Morning as well as a Sixth Form Open Morning so that all families have the chance to come and see the School. We are determined to provide all that each family needs so that they can make an informed choice about joining RGS Worcester. There will be further information for our Year Six and also our Year Eleven pupils as they look forward to the next stage of their education.
Please do book a visit to come and see us and hear all about RGS Worcester. Please come and receive a warm and friendly welcome and an experience we think you will enjoy!
