Lower Sixth Higher Education Evening
On Monday, RGS Worcester hosted the annual Higher Education Evening in Perrins Hall, welcoming Lower Sixth students and their parents to the start of an exciting journey. The evening provided a detailed look at how the School leads students through their application to Universities or Higher Degree Apprenticeships, with talks from the expert team at RGS.
Mr Hallett, UCAS Co-ordinator, spoke about the process of applying for university, including deadlines and how parents can support their son or daughter with their application. Mrs Williams, Head of Careers, introduced Higher Degree Apprenticeships, discussing what they are, points to consider, and how to find out what apprenticeships are available. She also shared information about the support available from the Careers Department. Mr Evetts, Head of Sixth Form, explained about student finance, including tuition fees, student loans, and parental contributions.
After the talks, refreshments were served, and attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and speak informally to staff. Students are now moving into an exciting chapter on their Sixth Form journey, with a focus on developing their personal statements. Tutors, the Sixth Form Team, and the Careers Department will continue to offer support and guidance throughout the whole application process and on Results Day and beyond. Parents are encouraged to contact the School at any point to discuss their child’s post-RGS plans.
The Higher Education Evening marked the beginning of a crucial stage in the students’ education journey, and RGS Worcester is committed to supporting them every step of the way.
Thank you to those who joined us for the evening and to our staff members and Catering team.
We look forward to the Lower Sixth Mock interviews on 10 March, UCAS Discovery Day 23 March, and the Careers and Higher Education EXPO on 30 March. Over the course of next term, we will also hold Careers Guidance Interviews for our Lower Sixth students.
