Lower Sixth Geographers Go Down to Devon
Last week, a group of twenty-eight Lower Sixth Geographers travelled to the Field Studies Centre in Slapton, Devon to conduct research for their Non-Examined Assessment (NEA). The students explored the rural village of Slapton and Slapton Sands to investigate coastal processes and management along Start Bay, as well as infiltration for the Water and Carbon A Level syllabus topic on contrasting land uses.
Head of Geography, Mrs Jenny Stace praised the Lower Sixth students for their excellent conduct, noting that they represented themselves and the School exceptionally well, “The students were a credit to themselves and the School. While there, we collected vital data for the individual NEA’s as well as consolidating Lower Sixth students’ geographical understanding of the coast, which is hard to do in Worcester!”
Despite the weather last week with sleet, snow and rain posing a challenge, students were well-prepared and persevered through the conditions.
With the data collection phase now complete, the Lower Sixth Geographers will begin analysing and utilising the information they gathered for their NEAs. We wish them the best of luck as they continue to work hard towards their upcoming examinations.
