Lent term Sport kicks off in style
RGS Football
After the postponement of school football fixtures last year due to the pandemic, it is great for our pupils to get back on the pitch, playing competitive Football.
In our first block fixture of the term last Saturday, we played Malvern College.
Honours were shared with RGS teams at Under 14, Under 15 and the 1st XI, 2nd XI and 3rd XI winning 4, drawing 1 and losing 3 matches. The 1st XI match was hard fought but with conditions heavy underfoot and despite continuous pressure in the final minutes, the RGS team could not come back from a 1-0 deficit. After 90 minutes of thrilling football exhibited by both teams, the 2nd XI lost their lead with moments to go to finish 4-4 in a match that made great viewing for the many parents from both teams who came along to support. The RGS Under 14A and B and Under 15A and B teams were all successful with no shortage of good striking at Under 15 level, scoring 16 goals in their two matches!
Well done to all of the players for providing a great kick-off to the Football season.
Mr Gary Leeds
Head of Football
