Junior Drama Scholars Present a Dickensian Delight
After such a successful show week of ‘Miss Saigon’, the next production of ‘A Christmas Carol’ is now only days away!
The success in recent times in the Performing Arts at RGS Worcester has inevitably meant that more pupils want to have the opportunity to perform in school productions. As a consequence, we have more Drama than ever before this year at RGS!
Our next production is ‘A Christmas Carol’, directed by Mr Garrity and with a young and very able cast. Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’ has woven itself into the fabric of holiday tradition, and our Junior Drama Scholars are excited to take on the challenge of retelling this heart-warming story. This year marks the inception of a new tradition, allowing our talented young Drama Scholars from Years Seven to Ten to step into the spotlight with larger roles and bring this cherished tale to life.
In this captivating adaptation by David Edgar, renowned for its acclaimed staging at the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), our journey begins with the visionary Charles Dickens as he conceives the idea of ‘A Christmas Carol,’ with the unwavering support of his editor and confidant, John Forster. Together, they seamlessly weave the threads of imagination, allowing us a front-row seat to witness the genesis of the story, unfolding and coming to life before our very eyes.
Set against the backdrop of Victorian London, we embark on a heart-warming journey with the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge which explores the transformative power of compassion and the true spirit of Christmas. Through visits from the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, Scrooge is confronted with the consequences of his callous ways and is given a second chance at redemption. With each spectral encounter, Scrooge is reminded of the importance of kindness, generosity, and the joy of spreading holiday cheer. ‘A Christmas Carol’ is a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to change one’s ways!
‘A Christmas Carol’ will be performed in the RGS Performing Arts Centre for two nights, Thursday 7 and Friday 8 December. Tickets are on sale, to purchase your ticket, please do so online at TRYBOOKING.CO.uk/CSMK
