Game, Set, Match: 24 Hour Tennis Marathon
On 26 and 27 February 2022, eight keen RGS Tennis players plan to travel down to The National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, to take part in a 24-hour Tennis Marathon. The Tennis marathon aims to raise money for Bright Ideas for Tennis, to support the expansion of the GB Tennis disability programme.
The funds raised will be used to give opportunities to those from a wide range of disability groups to play tennis once a week and the funds raised by us will support the provision of ‘I Play 30’ sessions within our catchment area, enabling our local community to directly benefit from our fundraising.
During the 24-hour Tennis Marathon, the RGS players will have a four-hour session on court and will be accompanied by, and playing against both Davis and Federation Cup players. This will give our players the amazing opportunity to meet and play with top British Tennis players whilst fundraising at the same time. Excitingly, if we reach a £5,000 fundraising target, Bright Ideas will arrange for two Davis or Federation Cup players to visit RGS in the Trinity term, deliver on court masterclasses for our teams and take part in a Q & A session.
The players are beginning their fundraising this Christmas, aiming to run or walk 216km (the distance from RGS Worcester to Wimbledon), with further fundraising planned over the next two months leading up to the event.
It would be fantastic to continue to raise the profile of Tennis within RGS, support our players and the community with this fundraising. If you can, please do support this initiative; we welcome ideas and offers to run fundraising events and you can also make a donation via the below link to our fundraising page.
