Gaining German Insight
RGS Worcester staff and pupils are currently enjoying the expertise and enthusiasm of German teacher Ulf Engel in the classroom and beyond. Herr Engel has been teaching Music and English at Elisabeth-von-Thadden School in Heidelberg for 25 years, making him ideal for our UK-German Connection scheme.
Herr Engel is enabling our German learners to practise their spoken German intensively. He is taking part in Music lessons and ensembles (playing his cello) and he has been observing lessons in the English department. Across the School, he has been keen to share ideas on teaching practices.
Herr Engel is the second teacher to visit RGS Worcester via the UK-German Connection scheme. Last year Ricarda Schinköthe visited which led to exciting new projects enabling RGS Worcester’s students to establish their own links with Germany. We have over fifty pupils here corresponding via letter and email with pupils at Gymnasium Burgstädt, naturally reinforcing their German skills. There are lots more exciting projects on the horizon.
