Forthcoming Festivities at RGS Worcester
Winter is well and truly upon us with colder mornings, darker evenings and shorter days. Yet our pupils push through, embracing the cold Winter weather, continuing to seize each and every opportunity both inside and outside the classroom and on and off the pitch, all the while making time to enjoy the host of seasonal festivities towards the end of the term.
This week’s festive activities have included Senior House Dance with entertaining performances from each of our four Houses. Each House performed dances to classic Christmas songs with Wylde House securing the win for their House and much coveted House Points.
Next week we will hold our annual performance of ‘Christmas with the Big Band’, with renditions of festive favourites from our talented pupils. As well as Christmas Lunch, we look forward to Christmas Jumper Day, Rowing Mince Pie Boat Head and our Carol Service in Worcester Cathedral.
At The RGS Family of School’s seasonal activities have also been in full swing for pupils in Years Three to Six at RGS The Grange. Pupils visited ‘Smart Trees’ for a magical Christmas experience as well as a trip to the Birmingham Rep to see ‘Nativity the Musical’. On Tuesday, Years One and Two pupils performed their Christmas Production to staff, their peers and some very proud parents.
At RGS Springfield, pupils and parents have enjoyed a week of ‘wreath making’ and a performance of their Nativity play by the Early Years’ children, as well as experiencing a visit from Father Christmas. Pupils from Years Three to Six also participated in a Christmas Hockey Tournament at the Worcester International Hockey Centre.
RGS Dodderhill recently enjoyed their Christingle Service in nearby St. Augustine’s Church in Droitwich Spa. Pupils celebrated the meaning of Christingle, sharing poems, songs and prayer alongside the traditional Christingle oranges representing the world, and the lit candles representing hope. Pupils also performed their ‘Christmas Journey’ and held their Christmas jumper day.
