This week the RGS Worcester Family of Schools delivered a special Apple Regional Training Centre (RTC) online event, aimed at advising the parental school community on the use of social media, screen-time as well as the wider aspects of navigating and parenting a digital childhood.
The panel of experts were from across the Family of Schools and included: Headmistress of Dodderhill, Sarah Atkinson, Deputy Head of RGS The Grange, Wendy Wreghitt, Deputy Head of RGS Springfield, Ian Griffin, Director of Innovation, John Jones, RGS Worcster Senior Teacher (Pastoral and Welfare), Sophie Nicholls and Head of Computing and Digital Learning at RGS The Grange, Matt Warne. Alongside the panel’s clear expertise as educators within the RGS Family of Schools, they also drew upon, and shared their own experiences and challenges, of parenting in a digital landscape.
Questions were submitted prior to the event and covered varied and relevant topics such as; nurturing positive communication on the use of technology, age recommendations on social media software platforms as well as guidance on filters, smart pencils and setting up screen time limits.
Discussion was informative and enlightening with many practical IT solutions offered, alongside tips to help keep children safe online.
Many thanks to the panel for such an illuminating event and to the RGS Parent community for attending and participating. If you missed the event, please do see the links below with guidance on some of the pertinent topics covered at the event.
