ESSA Swimming – Regional Qualifying Competition
English Schools Swimming Association – Secondary School Team Relay Championships
On Tuesday of this week, RGS Swimming teams took part in the Regional Qualifying competition held at Malvern College. This event proved to be a very challenging selection process as we have such strength in depth, particularly in the Junior boys and girls and Intermediate girls. We have a strong group of swimmers throughout the School, with a number of our pupils having achieved medals at both County and Regional events through their clubs, with a few achieving National qualifying times too.
All three age group teams that entered performed brilliantly on the day and it was great to see such excellent camaraderie between all the swimmers and plenty of parental support too. There were really strong relay performances and we now have to wait to see how our times on the day compare to the rest of the country. The top twenty teams nationally qualify for the National Finals held at the London Aquatics Centre on Saturday 19 November.
“Well done to all the swimmers and those pupils who were on standby. Particular thanks to swim coach and ex-RGS parent Mr Mark Hill who was a huge help prior to the event and on the evening.” – Mr Stuart Davis, Head of Year Seven.
