Elgar, Ottley, Whiteladies, Wylde: House Update
House Film Making
For this year’s House Film Making, pupils were given the theme of ‘Movie Magic’, where they were challenged to create a 30 second to two minute short film. They were asked to demonstrate the creative ways in which ‘Movie Magic’ such as animation and special effects could impress. We received some very high-quality entries.
Films were judged on their Artistic endeavour, Creativity and Originality, Editing and Plot. The stand out films ‘The Energy Drink’ for Whiteladies by Matt Howells, and Zac Johnson’s ‘Clone’ for Elgar. Zac’s technical and artistic wizardry with Videoleap was phenomenal, professional and entirely deserving of full marks.
Please do enjoy viewing these films:
Congratulations to all who participated and treated us with their creativity. The results are: Ottley and Wylde share joint third place, and with a very closely fought battle between Elgar and Whiteladies… Elgar edged to victory, just one point ahead. Many congratulations to Elgar.
Junior House Dance
The theme for the Junior House Dance this year was the ever popular ’80s Dance Hits’. In separate Year group teams due to Covid-19 restrictions, we had some fabulous entries from both Years Seven and Eight dancers. The competition scores were very close and the filmed entries were well put together and great fun to watch.
The Year Eight Whiteladies team produced a slick routine with some awesome acrobatic moves in their glittery costumes. Wylde pupils had an energetic routine from the Year Seven girls dressed in blue, with some great freestyle and gymnastic moves. Elgar in their orange attire were a well synchronised Year Seven team, displaying some great 80s inspired moves. The overall winners this year were Ottley who, in the judges’ opinion, put together a clever 80s inspired routine, with well-considered and creative costumes and choreography. The Year Eight Ottley girls clearly enjoyed every minute of their performance too!
Huge congratulations must go to all who entered – you really did impress this year. Well done to all the dancers!
