Driving Success! Amy joins Williams F1 Racing Team
We were excited to hear that RGS Alumna, Amy Murphy began an Industrial Placement in Inventory Management with the Williams Racing F1 Team this term. During her time at RGS Worcester (2013 – 2019), it was clear that Amy had a flair for engineering. She was awarded a Design Technology Scholarship, an Academic Scholarship and she took the lead of the RGS Greenpower racing team. She then went on to be a key member of the Land Rover 4×4 Challenge team that reached the World Finals, held in Abu Dhabi.
After RGS, Amy studied for a BEng Degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Nottingham, a course which allows a placement during the third year. When looking for a placement, Amy saw an advertisement for Williams F1 Racing and decided to apply. Amy explains: “I started my placement at the beginning of September and it has been amazing. Everyone is very welcoming and I have even had the chance to meet some of the F1 drivers! The department I am in is responsible for the storage and distribution of goods ranging from car parts to driver race kits and down to each individual nut and bolt. I am really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve as a F1 team and feel very fortunate to be a part of it.”
Congratulations to Amy and we look forward to following her success at the beginning of her Formula 1 Racing adventure.
