Developing Leadership Skills at the Primary Schools Netball Tournament
On Thursday 14 March, nine local primary schools participated in the annual RGS Worcester Primary Schools’ Netball Tournament.
Claines CE Primary, The Lyppard Grange Primary School, Oldbury Park Primary, St Clement’s CofE Primary, St George’s Catholic Primary School, Sytchampton Endowed Primary School, Whittington Church of England Primary School, Pitmaston Primary School and Northwick Manor Primary School participated in the Tournament, with plenty of support from teachers and parents.
During the afternoon Tournament, RGS Sports Leaders from Year Ten who are undertaking the Community Sports Leadership Award (CSLA) and Lower Sixth Sports Leaders completing Level 3 qualifications developed their leadership skills by offering their expertise and support. From umpiring, scoring, and timekeeping the afternoon provided the opportunity for the Year Ten pupils and Lower Sixth students to develop the leadership skills they have learnt via the Leadership Awards. This Tournament helped to develop their confidence and the ability to communicate effectively with other people. There was some excellent play during the afternoon and all teams displayed a positive attitude towards the game.
Congratulations must go to the runners-up Pitmaston Primary School, and the winners Northwick Manor Primary School. We look forward to welcoming more local schools to RGS Worcester for Outreach events in the future.
