Developing Digital Learning Skills in the Community
On Tuesday 24 January, RGS Worcester and RGS The Grange hosted our inaugural Digital Learning Study Tour in association with the West Midlands EdTech Hub.
Teachers and Senior Leaders from Windsor Academy Trust, The Arthur Terry Learning Partnership (ATLP) and Bohunt Education Trust arrived early in the morning for an insight into why Digital Teaching and Learning is at the heart of RGS Worcester culture.
After some outstanding presentations from our pupil Digital Geniuses, the tour explored the Senior School to witness how technology was meaningfully embedded across our curriculum. Textiles, Physics, Physical Education and Computer Science all demonstrated how digital technology was enhancing, augmenting and enriching learning as every day, standard practice. Furthermore, teachers shared how digital technology was reducing workload, improving feedback and streamlining organisation.
Following sessions at RGS Worcester, guests moved to RGS The Grange where Headmaster, Gareth Hughes shared the incredible journey the school had been on to establish the school at the very forefront of digital learning & innovation in Prep education. Our guests then took a tour from Year One to Year Six and saw meaningful use of technology in a wide variety of subjects in a host of different ways. Pupils and teachers consistently demonstrated remarkable digital proficiency and that digital technology is not a novelty, but part of standard classroom practice where and when it adds value to teaching and learning.
The Digital Learning tour concluded with lunch and a Question & Answer opportunity, followed by a debrief at RGS Worcester.
A huge thank you goes to all the staff across our Schools who opened their classrooms for the study tour. Also, to the catering, event-planning and maintenance teams who helped the day run so smoothly.
Well done to our pupils who shared their stories so eloquently – our Digital Geniuses. Finally, thank you to our guests, who are of course welcome back to our Family of Schools whenever they wish.
Mr John Jones, Director of Innovation
