Cricket Victories in Full Swing
I am pleased to report recent successes on the Cricket field for the Boys’ 1st XI and Under 13 sides.
The 1st XI has progressed to the National T20 Round 3 to face Rugby School having beaten Sandwell College just before Half term. Sandwell were dismissed for 82 with Freddie Ammonds taking an impressive 5 wickets for 8 runs. The team was able to complete the victory in what proved to be a straightforward run chase.
The Under 13 team has reached the last eight schools in the country in their national cup competition. They will play Bedford School in the Midlands final of the National Bunbury Cup. Their success has been achieved in no small part through the outstanding performances of Charlie Taylor who, in previous rounds has scored 128 Not Out against Hereford Cathedral School and 133 Not Out against Northampton School for Boys – scores which have certainly boosted his average for the season! Charlie is in Year Eight but is also currently a key member of the 1st XI as an opening bowler and all-rounder.
We wish both teams all the very best in their upcoming fixtures.
Mr Phil Newport, Head of Cricket
