Creative Community: Textiles, Design Technology and Art Outreach Event
We welcomed over 60 pupils to RGS Worcester last week to join in a fun and creative Art, Textiles and Design Technology Outreach event.
Led by RGS Teaching staff, ably assisted by School Prefects, Years Four and Five Pupils from Hollymount Primary School and Northwick Manor Primary School enjoyed a very practical morning in the Art, Textiles and Design Technology facilities demonstrating their creativity and learning new skills.
In the Design Technology department, pupils tried their hand at using junior hacksaws to cut shapes from acrylic, before using some of the department’s machinery including sanders and heaters to finish, shape and finally assemble pieces to form their own clock.
Whilst in the Textiles department, pupils created their own school bunting. Based on their school colours, pupils painted fabric pennants before stitching together on the sewing machines.
In the Art department, pupils looked at artwork by Philip Sutton RA and experimented using pastels to create colourful pears, which were then added to a painted tree.
The pupils had a thoroughly enjoyable morning and we were delighted to receive the following feedback from staff from Northwick Manor Primary School:
“I just wanted to say a huge thank you to yourself and the staff at RGS for making us feel so very welcome. The work that my class produced was just wonderful! They were so full of enthusiasm and excitement.”
“Thanks so much for the day at RGS for some of our children. They had a fabulous day!! The clocks and art work were amazing, what a wonderful opportunity for all of them.”
Thank you to the pupils and staff at Hollymount and Northwick Manor Primary Schools for visiting us at RGS!
