Building Oxbridge Bridges
It was lovely to welcome alumni Felix Haynes (2012-19), Alec Berry (2013-18) and Will Osborne (2006-21) back to School as they offered advice and shared their experiences on Oxbridge with our current students over a working lunch.
Felix studied Human, Social and Political Sciences at Cambridge, Alec is currently studying Engineering at Oxford and Will is taking Mathematics at Oxford.
The three kindly came back to RGS to meet with members of our current Upper Sixth who were keen to find out more about life at these universities as well as to hear about the application process.
Felix, Alec and Will talked about writing their personal statements, all the way through sharing their interview experiences, some in person and some virtual. They also shared the highlights of studying at these institutions and they talked passionately about their subjects, colleges and general Oxbridge life.
The Upper Sixth asked some super questions, including how the alumni had felt following their interviews and how to react to rejection, as one of the three had not been successful on first application but had reapplied successfully during their gap year. This gave a hugely useful and balanced perspective.
The session was a great success with alumni and students thoroughly enjoying it. A big thank you to Felix, Alec and Will for so generously giving their time.
